Deutsche Synchronsprecherinnen und -sprecher erhöhen den Druck auf Streaminganbieter wie Netflix. Hintergrund sind neue Vertragsklauseln, die es erlauben sollen, bereits aufgezeichnete Stimmen für das Training von Systemen mit Künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) zu nutzen. Nach Angaben des Verbands Deutscher Sprecher:innen (VDS) lehnen viele Künstler diese Regelungen ab und verweigern ihre Unterschrift – mit der Folge, dass erste Synchronproduktionen ins Stocken geraten.

Im Zentrum der Kritik steht die Verknüpfung von Engagement und Zustimmung zur KI-Nutzung. „Ich bin nicht bereit, das Training einer Künstlichen Intelligenz zu unterstützen“, sagte Natascha Geisler, deutsche Stimme von Jennifer Lopez, der Deutschen Presse-Agentur. Sie habe eine aktuelle Synchronarbeit für Lopez wegen der Netflix-Vertragsbedingungen abgesagt. Bei den neuen Verträgen gebe es nach ihrer Darstellung keine Möglichkeit, der Nutzung der eigenen Stimme für KI-Training zu widersprechen; die Zustimmung sei Voraussetzung für einen Auftrag.

Zusätzlichen Zündstoff liefert die Frage der Vergütung. Geisler moniert, in den Netflix-Verträgen sei „an keiner Stelle schriftlich festgehalten, dass für das KI-Training eine gesonderte Vergütung vorgesehen ist“. Beim Training würden sämtliche Facetten von Schauspiel und Intonation erfasst, damit KI-Systeme lernen können, unterschiedliche Emotionen zu imitieren. Sie wolle weder „Datenfutter“ sein noch dazu beitragen, dass ihr Berufsstand perspektivisch ersetzt werden könne, sagte die Sprecherin.

Der VDS, der ein Treffen in München mit prominenten deutschen Stimmen unter anderem von Tom Cruise, Renée Zellweger, Cameron Diaz und SpongeBob mitorganisiert hat, drängt auf klare gesetzliche Regeln für den Einsatz von KI in der Branche. Nur eine Regulierung könne aus Sicht des Verbands eine unkontrollierte und illegale Nutzung von Stimmen verhindern und die Qualität menschengemachter Kunstwerke sichern. Netflix verweist unterdessen laut einer Unternehmenssprecherin darauf, dass der Einsatz von KI im Einklang mit geltendem Recht erfolge und beruft sich auf Vereinbarungen, die der Konzern im vergangenen Sommer gemeinsam mit dem Bundesverband Schauspiel getroffen habe.
